A multimedia experience of storytelling and memory in the Small Museum of the Diary, which was established in 2013. An essential stop in the Memory Route.
The multimedia route was produced by Interaction design Studio in Milan, dotdotdot, who were inspired by the book “Il paese dei diari” (The town of the diaries, Terre di Mezzo) written by Mario Perrotta, one of the most important Italian theater artists of the new generation.
The multi-sensory journey opens up with two walls of drawers that contain stories, letters and memoirs both in paper and digital formats. Objects to look at and listen to include: extracts of memories of Italy in the past, memoirs, diaries and letters of war and emigration, tales of love and labor, peasant stories, introspective and contemporary thoughts. You’ll meet the stories of The Archive’s founders, together with those who wrote on any possible medium; you’ll immerse yourself in the narrations of special stories such as the epic tale of Sicilian Vincenzo Rabito.
At the end of the journey you will find yourself in front of a large display case showing the most famous piece of the collection. This is a double sheet on which a peasant woman of Poggio Rusco in the province of Mantova, wrote her autobiography in 1984, at the age of 72. She dedicated it to her husband Antaeus: ” I couldn’t use these sheets with my husband anymore and so I decided to use them to write.”
If you love stories, come and discover this magical part of Tuscany and visit the Small Museum with a storyteller from the Diary Archive. It will be an unforgettable experience, a memory that will remain with you forever.
